Every year, volunteers of Firehouse Quilts are thrilled to make quilts with hearts on them for Highlands Ranch Community Association. A fun group of young adults belong to the HRCA Therapeutic Program and each year they have a Sweetheart Dance around Valentines Day where they come and dance, have snacks and door prizes. That’s where we step in! Sandy Honan and Judy Rosich make as many quilts as they want, with the “heart” being the main focus. Many of our FHQ volunteers also donate new stuffed animals to be given out as door prizes for their dance. Susan Howarth collects these animals for a few months before the dance and they are delivered at the same time as we deliver the quilts. Sandy and Judy love making the quilts for the biggest door prizes at the dance. In fact, they barely have the quilts delivered this year and they start looking around for another pattern to do next year.
Hi Dusty, The dance was enjoyed by many! We had nearly 80 participants, most ever! The stuffed animals, pillow cases, pillows and quilts were greatly appreciated by the lucky winners. We can’t thank you enough for helping us make this such a fun night for those that attended.
