The two sew days in August were very busy with assorted projects throughout the room. There was a quilt being pinned for the quilting stage, lots of ladies sorting through new fabrics, many tops being pieced, and members assisting with the show and tell and bagging process. At the August 1st sew day there were 77 quilts turned in and at the August 21st sew day there were 69 quilts turned in by the ladies. The total amount of quilts made and turned in during 2019 is now 933! Our talented ladies truly have a giving spirit.
At the second sew day a woman from Hands All Around guild stopped in and donated a nearly new sewing machine. Within a matter of minutes Ruth, who is a member of Firehouse Quilts, stopped in with her granddaughter, Nicole, who is learning how to quilt. Nicole had the surprise of her life when the nice Kenmore machine was offered to her. Perhaps she’ll be making quilts for FHQ in the near future.
