On April 30th, 35 quilts were donated to the Help & Hope Center in Castle Rock. There were also 13 crocheted baby hats and 3 adult hats included in the donation. These items will be given to families and individuals who are struggling because of lost jobs and health issues as a result of the many months of the COVID-19 pandemic. The center has concentrated on paying energy bills for homes and providing food, gas and lodging cards, and counseling to those in need. One way the center is able to help those who are experiencing food shortages in Douglas and Elbert County has been with a new mobile food pantry. The unit is an old ambulance that was donated to Help & Hope by UC Health and has been transformed into a mobile market.
